Radiator fluid
Check
radiator fluid only when the engine is cold. The radiator fluid
should be up to the top of the filler neck of the radiator and the
reservoir should be up to the full cold mark. Some
systems don't have a cap on the radiator, so you would check it
in the reservoir tank only. See your owners manual to be sure.
Your
owners manual will specify coolant type and color. If your coolant
is not the color specified or has signs of debris consult a shop
to have the coolant flushed. Use a coolant tester to check for
freeze protection. These are available at most auto stores a 50/50
mix of
coolant and water will protect to -34 degrees. Use only quality
recycled premixed coolant or new coolant and distilled water. Coolant
service
life is usually 2 years or
30,000 miles.
